Article Urban planning in the face of the coming Fourth Industrial Revolution
Authors Beregovskikh A.N.
Institute of Territorial Planning "Grad" LLC, Omsk, Russia
Abstract The article draws attention to the value of the city as the highest form of organization of civilizational society's life and is devoted to substantiating the need to create an institute of systemic urban planning, the most important element of which is the planning of holistic urban space. The author emphasizes the special urban-forming significance of holistic urban space in the context of the impending Fourth Industrial Revolution as the main element of the city's life in a unified socio-cultural space, a space for communication and exchange of goods, services, and ideas. The article examines the threats posed by modern urban planning approaches, which lead to the dehumanization of the city, the destruction of its integrity, and the transition of life activities into an exclusively digital virtual space, resulting in the loss of universal human values. The article substantiates and proposes for further scientific analysis and development certain provisions aimed at the consistent institutionalization of urban planning as an independent, cross-sectoral activity.
Keywords: urban planning, integrated urban space, socio-cultural space, urban development planning, public spaces, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution
