Abstract
The author of this article, while not attempting a rigorous architectural analysis of the Athenian Acropolis complex (such attempts are numerous), proposes to view it through the prism of travel sketches by leading masters of architecture and fine art, reproducing the appearance of ancient heritage. He asserts that these sketches offer a profound analysis of the principles of architectural form-making and the emotional content of these high-architecture objects. The theme of light, material, and form is examined in comparison with Antoni Gaudí's legendary Sagrada Familia.
