Abstract
The purpose of this article is an attempt to draw the reader’s attention to a little-studied aspect of Le Corbusier’s extensive work – the desire for peacefulness, openness and prosperity in the broad sense of these positions. It is no secret that his activities are very often evaluated only from the standpoint of rationality, technicism and ambition, leveling his desperate aspirations to create a new architecture, emerging from the stage of wandering, possessing deep and clear principles, provisions and healthy aesthetics. The author examines the Algerian fruitful 12-year period of Le Corbusier’s work, which did not real embodiment, but left a bright mark on the structure of Algiers, being directly at the scene of events. The later period of the master’s work from the early 40s of the last century is determined by the desire to express his positions of openness and peacefulness in painting, sculpture, subject design and architecture. This is especially clearly and prominent reflected in the «Open Hand» monument, erected in the new city of Chandigarh in India.
