Abstract With the advent of television as the main means of leisure in the late industrial society, the architecture of stadium is undergoing revolutionary changes. The article examines the influence of television technologies on the structure of sports facilities. These tendencies are most visibly manifested in the projects of the Olympic stadiums, the architect of which today has turned into a film director, and architecture – in decoration. The symbiotic union of sports architecture and the media industry lies at the heart of fundamental questions of spectacle perception. The article examines the issues related to the hybridization of the perception of a sports show by spectators in the stands of the stadium, as well as by spectators at home television screens.
Keywords: architecture of spectacle, theater of sport, architecture of TV spectacle, hybrid optical phenomenon, perception automation, videoscopy
