Abstract The features of the use of decorative wood in the architecture of Yalta in the 1880s –1910s are considered. The ornamental motives of wooden decor, which formed the artistic image of architecture in different directions are described. Structural and decorative architectural details made of wood were an integral part of buildings created in the spirit of eclecticism and modernity, which makes it possible to study their features within the framework of typological groups. The practice of free arrangement of volumes of architecture, characteristic of Art Nouveau and, in part, eclecticism, contributed to the development of the style-forming role of decorative details. Wood, in the indicated period, dominates the decoration of buildings created in the oriental spirit. The décor elements of these buildings reflect the traditional aspects of the use of wood and, at the same time, reveal the level of development of crafts in the region. Signs of a new style, stylistic direction, are clearly expressed in the decoration of interiors with decorative wood. The article examines the features of artistic woodworking and means of artistic expression of wooden decor in the architecture of Yalta of the Art Nouveau period.
