Article FROM GARDEN CITY TO BIO-DIGITAL CITY
Authors

Moscow Institute of Architecture (State Academy), Moscow, Russia

Abstract The article deals with the modern embodiment of the garden-city concept – bio-digital city, which, unlike Howard’s idea, is compelled to operate on diffuse land elements within urban milieu and devise approaches to encourage positive transformations. Foreign and Russian experience of bio-digital, cultural-digital and socio-digital design denotes the philosophic and urban planning concept, fundamental for the modern urban development – the islands of sustainability as the structural urban elements, hampering town uncontrolled sprawl.
Keywords: bio-digital city, islands of urban sustainability, local digital systems
