Article	STYLISTIC SYNTHESIS IN RUSSIAN CHURCHES: ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE RYAZAN REGIONAL ARCHITECTURAL SCHOOL

Abstract	In the article, we investigate ways to achieve the integrity of the architecture of historical temples by the architects of the Ryazan lands, considered as the result of a stylistic synthesis. The authors developed the research structure, which consists in the initial formation of a system of criteria based on the definition of synthesis, and based on various aspects of the ratio of the whole and parts. A number of criteria correspond to the time characteristic, which determines the connection with the concept of style. To determine the productive period in the history of the region from the point of view of this research, we have considered the synthesis of styles and arts of the Ryazan lands in accordance with the all-Russian periodization. We noted that the most interesting period is the second half of the XVII – the end of the XVIII century. Characteristic temples of the selected period are considered by us using the developed system of criteria for studying stylistic synthesis in architecture. We have identified the most characteristic features of the stylistic synthesis, called principles. For the first time for the regional school of temple architecture, we have formed an interconnected system of principles of style synthesis. We have made a number of local conclusions about the features of the synthesis of elements of the Russian middle ages, Naryshkin style, European Baroque and classicism. The structure we developed for determining the features of stylistic synthesis is relevant for the study of Russian churches in various Russian regions.
