Abstract	The article analyzes the role of the city of Yuryevets in the national culture and history of urban planning. Possible directions of its development in modern regional development processes are proposed by adding new functional elements to the existing urban planning structure. A theoretical model for actualizing the resource potential of Yuryevets has been developed. The creation of the Andrei Tarkovsky Theme Park, a pier and a memorial complex in memory of the flooded Volga cities will bring active growth points to the successive development of one of the oldest cities in the Upper Volga region.
