AbstractThe article deals with the problems of the existence of the Terek river in the urban fabric of modern Vladikavkaz. The analysis of the historical experience of the city's formation and the study of the master plan of its development planned for execution until 2025 served as the basis for identifying the principles and techniques of design in the architectural and landscape context of Vladikavkaz. The Terek river – legendary, sung in brilliant works of art, directs the authors to determine the specifics of metaphorical analogies based on the comparison of the actions of the elements of the Terek river, selected by the famous poetic work of M.Yu. Lermontov, and correspondences to these actions in the conceptual programs of architectural and landscape compositions proposed for design on the coastal territories of Vladikavkaz. The metaphorical interpretation of the images of the Terek river is the basis of the proposed method of renovation of the relationships between the architectural and landscape framework and the urban planning ensemble of the city of Vladikavkaz.
Keywords: landscape architecture, architectural and urban renovation, river in the context of the city, the organization of the coastal territories, architectural and landscape component
