AbstractA study of unrealized projects of the 1930–1940s was conducted. The development of the Frunzenskaya embankment of the Moscow River south of the Palace of Soviets is an example of a special creative approach of Soviet architecture to the placement of city-forming complexes in the capital. The contradiction between management decisions in the field of urban development policy, initiating the necessary growth of the city, the creative work of architects and the consequences of interference in the structure of the city center, changing the physical, natural-ecological and cultural-social environment, was the problematic field of research. Unpublished materials from the A.V. Shchusev Architectural Museum are introduced into scientific circulation
