AbstractThe article deals with the architecture of Vladivostok's Soviet period (1930-1950) from the view of arts' synthesis. The unique landscape's role in the extensive plans' implementation of monumental propaganda of this period is identified when developing the master plan of the city's evolution. The authors studied the most vivid period of the Vladivostok's Soviet history ‑ the master plan's establishment by architect E. Vasilyev. The process of partial implementation of this plan is tracked in the works of such architects as A.I. Poretskov, N.À. Bigachev, L.H. Rabinowitz. These specialists' qualification in the Leningrad school of Architecture determined the stylistic commonality between the architecture of neoclassical Vladivostok and other cities of the USSR, which was manifested in the recognition of the decor's theme, the plastic arts' choice, and the synthesis techniques. At the same time, the influence of regional features on the manifestation of the arts' synthesis in the architecture of Vladivostok and also the features of the architects' individual style were found. The professional activity of Soviet architects' studying is important not only because of necessity to preserve the uniqueness of the city but also to understand the possibilities of large-scale interaction between the arts and architecture, which Vladivostok's unique landscape provides with.
Keywords: the Soviet period of architecture, the architecture of Vladivostok, the synthesis of arts, monumental - decorative art
