Article	RESTORATION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF HISTORICAL TOWNS IN THE EUROPEAN PART OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Abstract	Modern social and economic conditions of the settlement system of the Russian Federation lead to the degradation of many towns, including their industrial and social infrastructure. It cause the outflow of the population from towns. The existing development models are not universal and should be analyzed. In this article a comprehensive analysis of the current state of towns in Russia is presented and the reasons for town depopulation are described. Social, economical and town-planning strategies of saving, restoration and sustainable development of towns are examined. Possible solutions to suspend negative processes of town development are outlined. Our method represents synthesis of successful solutions, modern technologies and retrospective analysis to solve the problem in question.
