Article VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE WORLD REVEALING AT THE ANALYSIS OF PLASTIC COLOR SOLUTIONS OF THE ARCHITECTURE OF THE XXI CENTURY AND AT GEOMETRICaL PROPORTIONs OF ANCIENT RUSSIAN CHURCHES OF THE X–XV CENTURIES

Abstract To consider the issue of creation of the architectural environment with intuitive navigation and symbols unconsciously perceived by the audience, we review the use of color contrasts in the architecture of the XXI century according to W. Kandinsky, as well as plastic solutions based on the knowledge of the psychological perception of geometric figures. Philosophic understanding of basic forms and solutions of symbolic geometrical problems allowed to reveal the system of proportioning of ancient Russian Christian churches of the X–XV centuries, directly related to the Christian ideology. Therefore, the practical dimensioning of temples represents visualization of the Old Testament from its first lines, through The Lord’s Prayer to the citation of the New Testament, in proportioning of the structural core of the church, which can be observed both in three-nave and multi-nave cathedrals. The structure of temple proportions also shows the record in the language of the geometry of the dogma of the Trinity created in the period of the first Ecumenical Councils by the Church Fathers in the IV century in the form of three equal twisted circles. The central circle located in the center of the dome space is a horizontal section of “The Life Giving Pillar” flowing from the heaven visualized by light from the drum windows in the image of the river with two arms, according to Gregory the Theologian. The width of this “pillar” forms the basis for all subsequent interiors: it is half the width of three central naves; proportional to the length of the church and a multiple of the overall height. Therefore, the ancient Russian church is a material shell of the “pillar”, the symbol of the Ascension, as confirmed by the icon “Lives of Saints Boris and Gleb” (XVI century). The “quadrature of circle” reveals the symbolic relationship of two types of spans used in church construction.
