Article«VISIBLE» AND «INVISIBLE» WORLDS REVEALING THROUGH COLOUR SYMBOLISM AND GEOMETRIC SHAPES IN fine ARTs, DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE
Authors

M. Vengerova, Moscow Institute of Architecture (State Academy), Moscow, Russia

Abstract The concurrent existence of two worlds (visible and invisible) is revealed through geometric shapes and colours used in creative works of artists, architects and designers. The language of symbols shows us pictures of the universe arrangement described by them. The comparative analysis of philosophical papers of P. Florensky, V. Kandinsky and E. Trubetskoy disclosed the unified subconscious perception of basic colours and shapes by the audience of the Russian-European cultural tradition. The research findings were confirmed during the analysis of art works of the Novgorod School of Icon Painting (XVI century), V.E. Borisov-Musatov (XX century), G.D. Ivanovskaya (XX century); architectural structures of K. Melnikov (XX century) and D. Libeskind (XXI century), Christian buildings in the Holy Land, Lycia and Ancient Rus (I-XV centuries); environmental design of the XX-XXI centuries. The detection of the subconscious perception of geometric shapes, light and colouring facilitates the provision of the necessary information to the audience, which is relevant for the creation of intuitive navigation in architecture and environmental design.
