Article THE STRUCTURE OF ARCHITECTURAL REVOLUTIONS
Authors D. Danilov, Yuri Gagarin State Technical University of Saratov, Saratov, Russia
AbstractIn the second half of XX century, postpositivism becomes one of the most influential schools of the philosophy of science. Exponents of postpositivism have introduced the terms "paradigm" and "scientific rationality". According to the postpostitivism development of science in history is a sequence of successive «paradigms», «scientific rationalities» or «research programs». The development of the architecture is a sequence of architectural styles, however, the mechanism of change and the formation of architectural styles is not evident. The basis of this article is the hypothesis that architecture and science evolve according to similar principles, which allows us to apply the methodology of postpositivism to the architecture.
Keywords: architectural style, development of architecture, autopiesis of architecture, postpositivism, Thomas Kuhn, Imre Lakatos
