The article is devoted to the practically unknown construction of F.O. Shekhtel in Austria – "Tsarenvilla", dating from 1892. The peculiarity of the house was the elements of a new style that were combined with the Renaissance and traditional principles of construction. The house of unusual architecture for Austria was designed by the Russian architect F.O. Shekhtel It is considered to be the first Jugendstil building in the Austrian city of Graz. The article presents materials that testify the authorship of F.O. Shekhtel, the history of the creation and features of the architectural monument, as well as the lost, preserved and restored elements of the house's design and decoration. The study of this construction expands knowledge about the early period of F.O. Shekhtel’s creativity.
