Abstract

The article describes the latest trends in the Western European architectural design and transformation of system of family-type children homes. In detail is considered the project of reorganization of family-type children homes in Estonia with support of Switzerland in 2009-2016-s Also a brief overview of the system of institutions for children in Finland is given. On these examples are identified the main prospects for the development of social policy of the European Union: the creation of a humane environment in modeling of a new type of children home, which structure is influenced by the symbiosis of sciences such as architecture and sociology.
