ArticlePremises and Advisability OF THE FORMER INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS USE

Abstract

The article presents a hypothesis of dissertation research to conversion of industrial buildings for mixed-use housing, which performs on the example of buildings of the Vologda city. The first part of the article reveals several reasons to emancipation of industrial buildings of the city center. The author summarizes the historical experience to conversion of industrial buildings, which characterizes the city in United States and Western Europe (New York, Manchester, Hamburg). The second part of the article contains analysis of the factors of use of former industrial buildings for mixed-use housing (urban planning, structural, environmental, economic, social, aesthetic).
