NEW CITY OF THE XXI CENTURY. NEW VISIONS AND POSSIBILITIES

Abstract

The article is devoted to new foreign cities, the development of which started at the beginning of the XXI century and the complete construction will planned approximately by mid-century. The aims and objectives of a modern city are creating multifunctional, sustainable, flexible and competitive urban environment of the future. Compares approaches and planning principles used in the XX and XXI century, shows the dynamics of changes of ideas about the forms and functions of the new cities. The projects of three modern cities Iskandar Malaysia Smart City, King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) and Songdo (South Korea) are considered. Their projects are recognized as one of the most ambitious. Are identified community in the formation of modern urban environment not from climate, cultural, political and socio-economic contexts.
