| Abstract |
The article covers several basic systematic approaches of evaluation criteria of cultural heritage. Having analyzed the processes of identifying architectural monuments in Russia and the rest of the world, the author concludes that the quality of expert reviews directly influences the character of the architectural conversion. Contemporary practice of documentation mainly describes tangible elements of buildings, and as a result objects of industrial heritage lose their initial uniqueness. Therefore, such conceptual subtle matters as authenticity, complexity, integrity, social memory and genius loci do not become in focus of monument preservation.
