| Abstract |
The article deals with the problem of non-resident students living in hostels. The dynamics of the
number of university students and the state of housing of student hostels of the Rostov Region
have been analyzed. On the basis of case studies the needs of students in temporary lodging in
the period of study at universities as well as the requirements to their homes have been identified.
The principal tendencies of present day student hostels formation and their main functional areas
have been indicated. The need for an integrated approach in solving the identified problems has
been substantiated.
