Article	INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS FROM ARCHITECTURAL PUBLICATIONS OF THE LATE 19TH – EARLY 20TH CENTURY ON FORMATION OF THE IMAGE OF THE ORTHODOX CHURCH AT THE TAMBOV DIOCESE

Abstract	The article is devoted to the research of Russian provincial church architecture of a rather recent period – from the 1870s to the 1910s. This period of Russian architecture is distinguished by presence of numerous stylistic directions, according to which both civil buildings and church constructions were erected. Historicism (eclecticism) and art nouveau style existed at the same time and were adapted for local typological preferences of the Tambov diocese. Today, modern Russian architectural practice faces an especially topical issue of mass church construction. Examples of specific projects of churches from publications of the late 19th – early 20th century that were constructed in the territory of the Tambov diocese, describe various solutions to problems of mass church construction in the Russian Empire at the turn of a century. Such experience can be useful to modern practical architects who will receive the key to understanding the forms of church architecture, and to searching for possible analogies when designing churches today.
