Article THEME OF THE GREAT ANTIQUE ALTAR IN THE PROJECTS OF A.V. SHCHUSEV AND I.I. LEONIDOV

Abstract It is shown that A.V. Shchusev interpreted the theme of the great ancient altar as a memorial, and I.I. Leonidov – as a semantic public center. This once again confirms the thesis of Karl Popper: "Thus, no innovator believes that he is introducing any innovation, on the contrary, he is convinced that he is returning to an Orthodoxy that has been distorted" [5, P. 254].
