Article ECO-SETTLEMENTS AS A NEW TYPE OF SUSTAINABLE URBAN STRUCTURE

Abstract The article deals with special urban formations, known in international practice as eco-settlements. The hypothesis of the urban structures’ balanced development is formulated basing on the analysis of foreign eco-villages in the worldwide practice. The authors make up a typological classification of sustainable settlements, reveal their structural characteristics. This highlights the complexity of the formations as the criteria of sustainability. Eco-settlements prognostic character let authors make an assumption that they support urban development both in ecological and functional aspects.
