Authors Ì. Troyan
Moscow Institute of Architecture (State Academy), Moscow, Russia
Abstract The article describes the evolution of attitudes towards aging in large cities of Russia and the world. It examines the historical experience of creating a living environment for people of the older age group, as well as factors affecting the quality of this environment and the prospects for its development. A generalization of these data makes us think about changing approaches to the design of residential complexes for elderly people in large cities. This is an urgent task facing architects around the world. The article describes the design experiments collected by the author, created in recent years in Russia, taking into account the needs of future elderly people. The article attempts to form a number of requirements for the creation of a multifunctional urban environment in cities for the integration of a senior age group into it.
Keywords: senior-friendly living environment, new aging concept, senior housing, residence for elderly (retirement community), «young old», assisted living
