Abstract	The article is devoted to departmental residential buildings, without which it is impossible to imagine the building of the center of Moscow. Previously, their architecture was not considered in detail, no attention was paid to the fact that most of them are housing cooperatives of employees, scientists, artists. Dozens of such buildings with atypical apartments still retain the originality of architectural forms and planning ideas.
