Article CONTEMPORARY THEATRE: IMMERSIVE PRODUCTIONS, PERFORMANCE AND ITS INFLUENCE ON SPATIAL TRANSFOMATIONS OF THEATRICAL STRUCTURES
Authors A. Kaydanovskaya, Moscow Institute of Architecture (State Academy), Moscow, Russia
Abstract The work shows immersive theatre as a new way of interaction between audience and artistic action. For new productions the space becomes one of the main moduses of artistic expression, the concept is explained on several (9) examples. During the performance each spectator can choose his/her own way out of many directions created by schenographer and architect. Authors prefer non-theatrical spaces. They adopt complex buildings or build scenography inside neutral sheds. The same way is used for theatre buildings. Artists use the whole house with its stairs, foyer, coridors; or build new unique space for a particular production on the conventional empty stage.
Keywords: immersive theatre, actor-spectator space, scenographia, performativity of theatrical action, theatre architecture
