Article	PREREQUISITES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ARTIFICIAL ISLAND TERRITORIES OF THE XXI CENTURY

Abstract	The article is devoted to the prerequisites that have affected the development of the construction of artificial islands. The author singled out philosophical, technological, territorial and economic-political tendencies that prompted the beginning of the construction of artificial island territories in the XXI century around the world. Examples of foreign and domestic experience in the design of artificial islands for various purposes, their sizes and methods of creation are considered. Classification of existing artificial islands according to their functional purpose is carried out.
