AbstractThe article first summarized and systematized the concept Russian authors on urban planning as a system of scientific knowledge. Authors have carried out the analysis of the works containing statements about structure, a place and a role of urban planning. On the basis of the analysis, models were made to evaluate the evolution of these representations in Russia in the XX century. A historical-graphical approach is proposed for analyzing the development of the system of scientific knowledge about city.
