The article describes an investigation of the development of the Russian scientific cities from the 1930s to the present time. The main trends of the urban design and the construction of Soviet science cities were analyzed to identify their special features. In the final part of the article, the Masterplan concept of the Skolkovo Innovation Center was studied and a comparative analysis with Soviet scientific cities was carried out.
