The article deals with the present knowledge on the psychology of perception of spatial forms, which influences on their final dynamic expressiveness. The contribution of R. Arnheim, who laid the foundations of a psychological approach in the framework of Gestalt psychology, in order to understand the peculiarities of the artistic language of visual art is bringing to light. His theoretical ideas have contributed to the discovery of the nature of aesthetic perception of architectural forms at the level of sensations. They also outlined a number of practical recommendations in solving compositional and creative tasks that are useful either for the architects or for students. It is suggested to make them the content of teaching in the discipline of choice in the second year of the fundamentals of architectural design.
