The article is devoted to some methodological problems of studying architectural formations. On the material of the creative heritage of Louis Kahn - one of the most complex and profound masters of architecture of the twentieth century - is demonstrated and discussed the research method of recognizing the invariant patterns out of the diversity of specific architectural solutions.
