The article considers a block-outbuilding, which is one of the most common elements of the school buildings modernization. Over the years with the help of a block-outbuilding solves the problem of integration of schools. Today, the process of optimizing the network of school buildings is underway, requirements and standards of education are being updated. Block-outbuilding in this situation can not only increase the area of the school building, but also become an important public and cultural center for the neighborhood. The block-outbuilding reconstruction is the one of the acceptable way to adapt the school to new realities. Reconstruction and modernization of standard school buildings through block-outbuilding opens the possibility of realizing a modern trend on the transformation of the school into a cultural, social, public and sports center of the district. Also in the article is a short history of use the block-outbuildings in the Soviet period of the school construction, classification according to various criteria of the types and kinds of the block-outbuildings, specificity of the block-outbuilding use and analysis of the factors influencing of architectural and planning scructural of the block-outbuilding.
