CONSTRUCTIVISM AND RUSSIAN "FAITH IN THE GREAT EXPERIMENT" IN REFLECTIONS AND ASSESSMENTS BY LE CORBUSIER

Authors O.I. Yawein, Moscow Institute of Architecture (State Academy), Moscow, Russia
Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of Le Corbusier's reflections on and assessments of the USSR architecture of the 1920s – 1930s and analysis of mutual influences of the Russian architecture of this time and the work of the great French master. Subjects of the article are genetically linked to the ccritical analysis of Le Corbusier's Greco-Byzantine tradition and its assessment on the continuation of the same line in development of architecture of the pre-Petrine Russia. This article develops the specific facts and details of the general idea of unity in the mind of Le Corbusier, two such disparate periods in the development of Russian culture - the avant-garde and the pre-Petrine as links Russian avant-garde with its historical roots and reveals the "boundless dedication" and the emotional attitude to the Russian oeuvre of Le Corbusier.

Keywords: constructivism, faith, the poetic idea, aesthetics, lyrical instinct, the will, the mind, the implementation
