| Abstract |
The article tells about the formation of the main categories of architecture - the category of space. For thousands of years the architecture for which this category is immanent, determined mainly as decoration of the facade. The turning point in the architectural professional consciousness occurred in the XVIII century under the influence of landscape gardening art in which the concept of the space for the first time in the spatial arts made sense and the status of an imperative. This historical fact corrects common picture of garden art as a phenomenon almost exclusively receptive and dependent.
