Authors
A.K. Kudriasheva, German-Jordanian University, Amman, Jordan
Abstract
This article exposes a rock ensemble of Petra, Jordan, both, as an extraordinary natural mountain city space and as a gallery of outstanding rock curved facades, adorning the entrances, which lead inside the mountain caverns, tombs and other cave interiors. The most significant, twelve Petra facades of Classic Order are turned to their initial original image in author’s graphic reconstruction. Architectural drawings of twelve facades with all structural and ornamental details for the first time show systematic range of their dimensional, typological, proportion and style correlation.
It is considered the rock ensemble of Petra both, as an extraordinary natural mountain city space, its urban structure, landscape views, and as a gallery of outstanding rock curved facades, adorning the entrances, leading inside the mountain caverns, tombs and other cave interiors. This article exposes the most significant Petra classic facade – the Khasneh.
