Article	COMPOSITIONAL ANALYSIS OF THE MARKET SQUARES IN THE HISTORIC TOWNS OF GALYCHYNA

Abstract	The article is devoted to the complex and multi-level analysis of the compositional organization of the market squares in the historic towns of Galychyna in the sequence «from the general to the particular». The next levels of consideration are proposed: macro, meso-1, meso-2, micro-1, micro-2, micro-3 (from the analysis of the market square ensemble at the town planning level to the architectural details of its buildings). Analysis at the macro level focuses on the ways an older urban structure was adapted to the requirements of the «Magdeburg» pattern; the correlation between the two compositional centers in a historic town – the market square and the castle, as well as the influence of topographic situation on it. At the meso level the study focuses on different stages of a market square compositional model development; types of volumetric and spatial composition of both market square ensemble and its quarters. At the micro level – on the typology of the market square quarters fronts and their silhouettes.
