Article PLANNING PRINCIPLES FOR THE FORMATION OF SLUMS IN MOSCOW AS AN EXAMPLE OF CHERKIZOVSKY MARKET

Abstract In the article there is the hypothesis that the Cherkizovsky market in Moscow was a slum in the form of squatter settlements of migrants. The author tells us about basic socio-economic causes and planning causes of slums in the Russian cities. There was investigated the history of the slums in Russia and in other countries such as Brazil, Mexico, India, South Africa, China and Italy. It contains the analysis of the planning structures of the largest slums of the world and proposed a typology that is based on historical patterns and planning patterns of the urban development.
