Article GERMAN THEATRE. THE TURN OF THE XIX AND XX CENTURY. NEW SCENIC SPACE FORMATION
Authors A. Vorobyev, Moscow Institute of Architecture (State Academy), Moscow, Russia
Abstract Theater development in Germany of the end XIX – the beginnings of XX-th century can be divided into three directions. The first direction is revival of principles of an open scene-platform of an English type theater of Shakespeare's times. The second direction is formation of New scenic space in a context of social changes in a city and prompt development of a new paradigm of modernistic art. The third direction (conservative) considered modernization of an existing traditional scene in architectural and technical aspects.

Within the limits of given article the problem of formation and development of New theater in a context of two directions is considered: "a Shakespearean" scene-platform and "total" theater. Against changes in structure of a society and social transformations the problem is shown on an example of evolutionary development of system «auditorium – a scene». In article the process of transition from traditional scene to a new one through «a Shakespearean scene» as the first step on a way to New Theater is described.
Keywords: “total theatre”, synthetic theatre, link stage, communication space, general accessibility
