| Abstract |
This article is devoted to the inhabited environment as information torrent, which corresponds with
consciousness of the person and helps with orientation in the world. The most characterized
element in the residential area is courtyard. It accumulates all human world interpretations. So it is
an attempt to understand, how world filling and human needs influence on the spatial decisions of
the dwelling environment in different civilizations (Egypt, Greece, Rome, Mediterranean, etc.).
Studying it we could see that there are very strict connections between human mind and
peculiarities in historic architecture. Internationalization broke this connection and now all cities
become similar to each other. Many nowadays architectural decisions are not correct for each
climate and landscape. So it is very important for modern architecture to recreate the logics of
architectural design that will help people to understand themselves in this world. For that purpose
we need to learn special features of each region. Then every architect could use them in practice.
