| Abstract |
Conducted investigation covers about 200 from existed 600 architectural monuments placed on
the territory of north- western district, which includes Oghuz, Gabala, Sheki, Gakh, Zagatala and
Balaken regions of Azerbaijan. Results of the investigation allow us to classify architectural
monuments in accordance with their preservation degree and significance and to realize their
conservation in different ways. Different aspects of re-use and adaptation of architectural
monuments to the new functions are under investigation in the given article as far as any
architectural monument after its restoration or conservation is subject to be preserved in right way.
Architectural- planning uniqueness and peculiarities of towns of the region put special demands to
their regeneration. Measures on preservation of historical appearance of the towns, and data on
several projects dedicated to the preservation of architectural monuments and realized with
participation of the author were demonstrated in the article as well.
