Article IDENTIFYING TECTONICS WALL BY LIGHT
Authors А. Batova, Moscow Institute of Architecture (State academy), Moscow, Russia
Abstract The paper is focused on the problem of identifying the meaning of light in a perception of a wall construction tectonics. A relationship between tectonics perception and lighting is poor explored. This problem is actual, because light plays a major role in sensually visual perception of architecture, becoming an integral part of building’s image in a day and a nighttime.

The issue is based on the experiment conducted with graduate students of the MARHI. The experiment used the method of paired comparisons. The author has identified special criteria of perception wall construction in tectonics way. Test persons were asked to rate by special characteristics colored images, which represented visualization of a wall, illuminated in various ways. The total number of images was estimated is 34, among them 29 with artificial lighting. The conclusions consists of "standard" for the best tectonic perception in natural light and light composition characteristics of artificial light leading to visual creating or destructing architectural form, in other words to different visual tectonic form interpretation.
Keywords: tectonics, wall construction, natural light, artificial light, light composition characteristic
