Abstract The article is devoted to the study of different types of amphitheatres in the public space inside buildings of European university campuses. In the article were identified main types of amphitheatres. Principles of creation of architectural composition, design features and ways of usage for the every type of amphitheatres are analyzed and described on a number of illustrative examples. In the article is noticed a pattern of marking amphitheatres with finishing. Here is traced the trend of using amphitheatre as a space for placement of working places.
