AMPHITHEATRE ON THE TERRITORY OF EUROPEAN

Abstract The article is devoted to the study of different types of amphitheatres on territory of European university campuses. The analysis showed, that amphitheatre became an inseparable part of composition of modern university European campus. Three main types of amphitheatres were identified: amphitheatre on the terrain, amphitheatre as a part of building, staircase-amphitheatre. Principles of location, architectural composition, design features and ways of use of each type of amphitheatres are analyzed and described on a number of illustrative examples. Special attention is paid to finishing.
