Abstract	This article is a fragment of scientific research devoted to the analysis of modern approaches to the understanding of architecture. The article reviews the problematics of questionable efficiency of parascientific methods in the field of cultural studies by analyzing the attempts of using the structural-semiotic approach to the theory and history of architecture
