Article THE FEATURES OF THE HIERARCHICAL STRUCTURE OF THE METROPOLIS AGGLOMERATHIONS IN THE SOUTH OF RUSSIA

Abstract By the example of five metropolis agglomerations in the South of Russia: Rostov’s, Volgograd’s, Krasnodar’s, Stavropol’s, Astrakhan’s – the hierarchical structure of internal spatial agglomeration are detected. The settlement connections between elements of the hierarchical structure in the agglomerations are studied and classified. The models of spatial organization of these agglomerations are defined. The models reflect the disposition of settlement network and the concentration of settlements. The features of spatial interaction between the "elements" of the hierarchical structure for each model are exposed. Taking into account the identified features the model of prospective polycentric development of multi-core agglomerations are introduced.
